Delay the onset of dementia by learning another language

It appears that speaking two languages could really help to delay the onset of dementia. Leading researchers in the UK, Canada and India have found that patients who are bilingual showed a delay in developing the disease by an average of four and a half years compared to those who are monolingual.

Recent studies made by research at York University, Toronto, Canada suggests that learning a language could make you more resilient to developing dementia later in life. Learning a second language not only exercises your brain but also makes it work harder which could potentially make you less likely to get dementia or at the very least, delay the onset of the disease.
