Spanish Language TV Channel Launched In Iran

The Middle Eastern country of Iran has just launched a Spanish language TV Channel, called Hispan TV. Iran has allies in Latin America particularly with Venezuela and Cuba. Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, hopes that the channel would ‘become a public discussion forum’.

In December 2011, the United States warned Latin American countries against closer links with Iran. Despite this, the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, praised the launch of Hispan TV.

The Spanish language channel Hispan TV joins the English language channel Press TV and the Arabic language channel al-Alam, all financed by Iran.
