Golden Globe Awards 2012 – Awards Update!

In a few days, the big names of Hollywood and beyond, will come out for the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards being held in Hollywood, USA. The presentation of the awards will take place on Sunday 15th January 2012 and will showcase several well-known big names such as Kate Winslet, Glenn Close, Merryl Streep, Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Leonardo Dicaprio.

For lovers of all things foreign, critically acclaimed film, ‘The Artist’ (France/Belgium) has been nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical with lead French actor, Jean Dujardin, also being nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical.

Nominations in the Best Foreign Language Film category include films from China, Iran and Belgium with a film from Spain, directed and written by acclaimed Spanish Director, Pedro Almodovar – ‘The Skin I live In’ (La piel que habito) and starring Antonio Banderas, also being nominated in this category. USA entry in this category is for US actress Angelina Jolie who directed and wrote ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’>>

The highly popular animated film ‘Puss in Boots’ featuring the voices of Spanish actor Antonio Banderas and Mexican actress, Salma Hayek, has been nominated for Best Animated Feature Film.

And the winner is……! French/Belgium film, ‘The Artist’ won Best Motion Picture with its lead French actor Jean Dujardin winning the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture. The film also picked up an award for The Best Original Score. Other awards to note were the Iranian film ‘A Separation’ winning Best Foreign Language Film. The animated film ‘Puss in Boots’ missed out on the award for the Best Animated Feature Film to ‘The Adventures of Tintin’. Meryl Streep won Best Performance by an Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in ‘Iron Lady’ and Morgan Freeman was awarded the Cecil B DeMille Award for his outstanding contribution in the entertainment world.
