Angelina Jolie Film Nominated In Foreign Language Category For The 2012 Golden Globe Awards

Controversial film ‘In the Land of Blood and Honey’, directed, produced and written by American actress, Angelina Jolie, has been nominated in the Foreign Language category for the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. The film is a love story set during the 1992-1995 conflict in Bosnia and was simultaneously filmed in both Serbo-Croat and the English language.

The film portrays a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman in a complex love story which takes a traumatic turn. Initially, the story caused controversy and setbacks even before it was filmed as female victims of the Bosnian conflict had objections. Also, Jolie had to film the movie in Hungary rather than in Bosnia as she had hoped.

Jolie recently said to Reuters on making the film that “It wasn’t a normal film experience for me, it was an education everyday in humanity and in unity, and also getting to know a culture”.

The Golden Globe Awards will take place on the 15th January 2012 in the USA.
